Numerous terminologies exist to describe product differentiation systems. The leading terms are identity preservation, segregation, and traceability. Frequently, the terminology surrounding these distinct systems is used interchangeably. This creates confusion within the agrifood industry. This paper offers working definitions and a practical taxonomy for identity preservation, segregation, and traceability.
